Nepal Anti Human Trafficking

The project works to systematically address root causes of trafficking in the sex industry and exploitative child labor by addressing poverty and educational access and building the capacity of the most affected communities to engage in prevention efforts. It builds on and is linked to two other major initiatives that WEI is implementing in Nepal to address trafficking and child labor - the USDOL-funded Naya Bato Nayo Paila (New Path, New Steps) anti-child labor project and the USAID-funded Combating Trafficking in Persons project. Several distinct geographic and social environments (Makwanpur, Nuwakot, Rautahat, Sarlahi and Kathmandu Valley) are the focal points for work carried out. All program activities are implemented in cooperation and collaboration with Nepali NGOs to promote sharing of lessons learned through this project and projects that those organizations are implementing.
